  • Shallotte crime report

    Shallotte Police made the following arrests and investigated the following incidents last week:

    •Robbery, rape and kidnapping reported at the Holiday Inn Express; victim later changed his story and said it happened in Little River, S.C., and that nothing was stolen, then refused to answer any more questions from the police. The case was closed.

    •Criminal damage to property (vandalism) at Blake Family Medicine; suspect graffitied building with gang symbols, causing $1,300 in damage.

  • Holden beach crime report

    Holden Beach police officers are investigating burglary, larceny and vandalism from a Starfish Street home.

    The victim reported on April 4 more than $28,000 worth of property was stolen. Stolen items include fishing rods and reels, boating equipment, jewelry, money, electronics and tools.

    A reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) involved in the break-ins.

  • Crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office reports:

    •Breaking and entering and property damage on Industrial Boulevard in Leland; suspect cut tires on victim’s vehicle and stole a cell phone.

    •Property damage on Shell Point Road in Shallotte; suspect spray-painted victim’s fence and signs.

    •Vandalism on Lanvale Road in Leland; suspect threw eggs at a business.

  • Juvenile detained in suspicious fires

    A 14-year-old girl is custody in connection with three mobile home fires on North Bluebeard Trail in Supply.

    The suspect was taken to the New Hanover Regional Juvenile Detention Center on Friday, according to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office detectives Capt. Gene Caison.

    According sheriff’s office incident reports, the first fire was reported just before 6 p.m. Friday, April 4. Later that evening, around 8:30 p.m., the second fire was reported. On Sunday, the third fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. at another Bluebeard Trail home.

  • Vandalism investigated in Sunset Beach

    Police on April 11 investigated a report of damage to personal property at 503 Magnolia Drive. Someone vandalized a vehicle by busting out a taillight.

    Luther Watts of 830 Magnolia Drive also was arrested and charged with driving after revocation and for having a fictitious tag and no insurance.

  • LELAND POLICE REPORT

    Leland police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports.

    •Pursuant to a traffic stop on U.S. 17, Amanda Gail Williams, 22, of 741 Heights Place, was charged with driving while license revoked, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A second suspect, Curtis Matthew Williams, 20, also of 741 Heights Place, was charged with open container, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Drug report

    •James Michael Gruber, 37, of 800 Persimmon Road, Calabash; charged with felony possession of cocaine.

    •Mike Leverne Daniels Jr., 26, of 7253 Bellamy Road, Longwood; charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    •Michael Jude Raspa, 36, of 1881 Waterloo St. SW, Ocean Isle Beach; charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    •Amber Nicole Bragg, 22, of 214 Lancaster Road, Wilmington; charged with possession of ounce or less of marijuana.

  • Shallotte crime report

    Shallotte Police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week:

    •Police arrested Alyssa Joy Skiff, 25, of Libby’s Lane, Conway, S.C., on April 4 and charged her with driving while impaired and open container. According to the report, police received a call about a vehicle “all over 17 north.” At Shallotte’s north end light, an officer stopped Skiff and noticed she had glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol. She was placed in the Brunswick County Detention Center.

  • Man arrested twice in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Police have arrested a local man on drug charges, his second arrest in a week.

    Matthew Shawn Arnette, 34, of 219 Live Oak Drive in Sunset Beach, was charged April 4 with possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Arnette previously was arrested by the Sunset Beach Police Department on March 31 for parole violation.

  • Search warrant leads to one arrest

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit arrested one suspect after a search warrant last Friday.

    Lindsay Marie Bullock, 23, of 7099 Channel II St., Ocean Isle Beach, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Bullock was released from the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond.
